The Company

Rappaport Development is a Real Estate company that prides itself on it’s client service, collaborative communication style and financial acumen. Prior to founding the company, our experience lies in multifamily finance, and affordable housing finance and development. It is understood that every project has it’s own unique set of challenges. Our engagements involve deals that have had challenges finding funding, financial application issues, municipal challenges, construction problems and pandemic staffing related hurdles to overcome.

It is our belief that there is a certain perseverance required to bring complex real estate projects to completion, and to learn how to navigate through challenging issues. We bring this perseverance, along with a collaborative approach to development that we hope will carry us into the future.

Brian Rappaport, Principal

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Brian began his career working in property management. He helped manage a 600+ unit HOPE VI Development in Washington DC and worked on substantially reducing property arrears. Brian then transitioned to working for an FHA MAP lender in Baltimore, MD underwriting large apartment buildings, both affordable and market rate. Over his tenure, he underwrote over 600 million dollars in FHA insured loans.

Notable projects include several 300 unit grocery and retail anchored apartment complexes in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. His work also included many new construction and substantial rehabilitation 4% and 9% LIHTC projects in the Mid Atlantic. Brian then moved on to independently develop two DDD group homes in Southern New Jersey and currently consults with various affordable housing developers and non-profits. His work is primarily focused on developing additional small-scale affordable housing developments, as well as preparing financing applications, and overall portfolio advisory services. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Affordable Housing Professionals of New Jersey (AHPNJ).

Brian is passionate about bringing his expertise to the real estate development and finance industry. He is also motivated to be able to work on affordable housing projects and help support the community while increasing housing options for the underserved.
